Bring Local Athletes to Church

Ask athletes from a nearby university to participate in a sports clinic at your church for local kids. If you live near a pro team, you could even ask members of that team to attend if it’s in the team’s off-season. Have them teach skills workshops, then, if they’re Christian, they can talk about how their faith plays an important role in their life as a professional athlete. In warmer months, offer up the church parking lot for a street hockey or basketball league to use, or, if you have a grassy field, for soccer or flag football, so the kids can practice the skills they’ve learned.
